"I Tell You The Truth..."

The Truth About Truth

Definition of Truth: Conformity to fact or reality. Conformity to rule, standard, model, pattern or ideal. Conformity to the requirements of one's being or nature. Being that which is the case rather than what is manifested or assumed.

The Value of truth:

Seventy-eight times in the Gospels (NIV) Jesus uses the phrase, "I tell you the truth...". It was indeed true, just as John wrote, "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (John 1:17). Jesus was the truth and he was God's interpreter of truth for us. But truth is often misunderstood and it's ultimate purpose hidden. It's ultimate purpose is to transform mere humans into mature and glorious sons and daughters of God. That is confirmed by Jesus when he prayed:

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

This short, succint and poetic verse opens to us a world of prophetic truth regarding truth.

It seems that truth has been largely a philosophical play-thing, and exercise in abstract thought and logic. It has lost much of its transforming impact and power. Even in Jesus' day it was difficult for people to grapple with this seemingly abstract concept. Here is the play between Jesus and Pilate at Jesus' trial:

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." "What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him. John 18:37,38

Jesus often didn't make it easy for those around him to understand what he was saying. This was all part of God's plan, of course. Jesus used the language of parables and prophetic symbology to communicate spiritual truth that required a high investment of ones heart and head to obtain the benefits he offered. The spiritually poor and hungry obtained it and the others did not. That is still true today. Those that seek for his treasure, those who are willing to sell all, will find it.

In the verse above Jesus said it would be TRUTH that would ultimately sanctify us or set us apart from the world as holy. It is truth that will ultimately produce the final product - SANCTIFIED MAN. Did you know that? Most people would say 'the blood', the Holy Spirit', prayer, worship, obedience, faith, tribulation, the rapture, etc. Most of those things will be instrumental, but TRUTH is the one to watch for. Truth will ultimately transform us.

Putting it in simple terms - we will learn NEW things. We will learn new concepts so powerful they will activate our faith, cause us to draw upon the resources of the Holy Spirit, to ask specifically in prayer for power to walk in perfect obedience with the purposes of God., causing us to separate completely from the world, becoming a single body of believers who perfectly represent God to the world. The world will know that God sent his son Jesus and that he loved him just as he now loves us. That was Jesus' prayer. It was prophetic, it will absolutely, without a doubt, be answered by God. We know Jesus' prayers will be answered.

Do you know any new concepts that would transform and sanctify the body of Christ? Do you know how to bring unity to the body of Christ? The old ideas won't do - they don't have the power. That means God has hidden truths just waiting to be discovered. Major new truths. That's hard for our mind to comprehend. The human mind doesn't function well in the darkness beyond the borders of his current understanding. With 2000 years of church history and study, thousands of books and scholars, several hundred denominations, and a multitude of sects, how could we have missed such major truths. It does indeed seem unlikely, but that human reality is at odds with the words of Jesus - and his words must stand.

We interpret 'truth' in the light that we have. Take the verse:

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. John 15:7

Has anyone, in 2000 years, qualified to always receive everything he asked for? Yet that's what this verse plainly says. The reason we need expert Biblical scholars to often is to interpret verses like this that can't be understood simply as stated. That is why we need new truth. In this verse Jesus is describing his own relationship with the Father, and telling us we can have it too. There is truth lurking out there somewhere that will produce the conditions required to make this verse work - every time.

There are many more examples of how we blind our selves to the TRUTH. The TRUTH is there, it is not coming by special visitation, or revelation. No, it is already written in the Holy Scriptures. In our immaturity we have not seen it, but God is about to remover the veil that we use to limit what we can see and therefore what we can become.

TRUTH is the most sure and earliest indicator that we have arrived at the end of time. The end times cannot come until truth comes. It is what we should be actively expecting and praying for. Prophetic teachers and students should be especially sensitive to the coming of new truth.

The Holy Spirit is the truth bearer. It is his job to see that the truth is delivered to the body at the right time.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13

The prophetic office of the Body of Christ will bring it forth, but it will be the other offices that must disseminate it..

  1. Truth is the Sign of the End: Transforming truth will be the first cloud on the horizon of the end. The coming of truth is the nature of the end: Truth triggers the end. It is the revelation of truth that will transform the church preparing it for its final role. If truth is the overriding sign of the end, than we can identify many things that are not. While highly touted as
  2. The truth will Sanctify us
  3. Mankind's dangerous perception of truth:
  4. Truth is Revealed by the Holy Spirit:
  5. Evidence that we know the truth:
  6. We currently do not know all the truth:
  7. Examples of truth transformation:
  8. The Transforming Truths: Many of the truths of the end are now coming forth. A partial list would be as follows:
a. Perfection (Holiness)

b. The strategy

c. The truth of who we are

d. The truth of God's purposes

e. Knowledge of Jesus Christ

CONCLUSIONS:

Therefore, it is our admonition that all men everywhere, including Gentiles, begin (if they have not already done so) a prayerful, studious, orderly adoption of the PUL as declared by Torah. This is not a journey into legalism, but into freedom and obedient preparation for 'marriage' to Messiah.
