In the parashas (weekly Torah reading) for the Sabbath immediately after the Sept 11 attack, we may find a message for America.  In it, the people are being confronted to renew the covenant made 40 years earlier at Sinai by their Father's.  America must remember it's covenant also.

Parashas Nitzavim (You are standing) Sept 15, 2001

All of you are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God--your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel, {11} together with your children and your wives, and the aliens living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water. {12} You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, {13} to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. {14} I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you {15} who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with those who are not here today. The Mayflower Compact (November 1620)

Message to America??

On Sept 11, 2001 a spiritual volcano erupted in New York and Washington. As most of the world gasped on horror, new spiritual realities manifested itself for everyone to see.  Despite decades of whitewash and propaganda declaring that God and religion were only fit for the closet, the spiritual impulses of man brought our world crashing to a halt.  The factors listed above could lead one to the following conclusions:

1. America is a 'chosen' nation. Her forefathers pledged / offered her to God for His special purposes. God has assigned America an irrevocable calling.

2. America, by choosing to be a 'secular' nation, has backslidden and is now unaware of that calling.

3. America's special calling is:
    1) To protect Israel (make war on Israel's enemies)
    2) Birth and nurture a worldwide restoration (return to Torah compliance)

4. Because America has no special knowledge of her Israel calling (#3.1), God must arrange a 'forced' or 'byproduct' compliance of her calling.  Israel's enemies must become America's enemies, so by America making war against its enemies, it will make war against Israel's enemies.

5. Because America has no knowledge of her 'restoration' calling (#3.2), God will have to send a 'Jonah storm' on America and the world to birth a new 'nation' willing to fulfill God's end day purposes.

Therefore:

God's special hand of protection and prosperity was extended so America could fulfill her calling.  Failing in that, America's outlook is bleak.  America's (the Church's) ignorance of God's call is worse than it's backsliding, therefore, even repentance will not be enough to keep the special grace America enjoys today.
